Now that we have some of the kinks ironed out in our platform (hah hah, get your giggles out now), we are in a good spot to advertise our website using a large online advertiser. In this case, we will be using the same company that supplies the adds that display on our pages, and similarly to how other services run ads that show at the very bottom of Erolair, we would be making an advertisement to showcase our website that will show on other sites.

Examples of websites we will be on include other adult content-friendly websites such as RedTube, YouPorn, PornHub, etc. Not all of the sites that our advertisement runs on will be explicitly porn sites, but because our advertisement will likely contain mature content, only websites that allow that type of content will display our advertisement.

There are specific lists of rules we have to abide by for advertising campaigns to allow them to display on different websites. For example, even though a website may have a lot of BDSM content, their ad rules may include no BDSM/heavy restraints in advertisements running on their main site. This is to appeal to their larger audience without off-putting anyone, and we have to observe these guidelines, or we will limit the places our advertisement is allowed to show.

If you've made it this far, you're surely wondering what this is all meaning specifically, right? Well, I would like for us to make a group project, if you will, out of creating this advertisement. Erolair is about all of us. We are a community. This website is frankly just that -- a website. Without all the passion and care of our community, we wouldn't have this place up and running. And I want our work collectively to be what draws newcomers into the website. I want them to see an advertisement with our name on it and see the hard work of our awesome community.

Here are the guidelines as per the advertising agency, that we must follow in order to campaign:

    • Any sexual depictions of persons real or imaginary (photography, renders, drawing, painting, etc.) of an individual under 18 years of age are prohibited
    • Any depictions of people or characters that appear underage are prohibited
    • Racial epithets and slurs are prohibited
    • Any "look alike" of the styling, colors, or names of known websites. (Ex. Facebook, YouPorn, RedTube)

The following are banned on YouPorn, so we cannot use them in our Ad:

    • No blood
    • No bondage
    • No crying
    • No choking
    • No face fucking
    • No face sitting that borders on choking or smothering
    • No foreign object insertions or No monster dildos
    • No gagging
    • No gaping
    • No hair pulling
    • No hand or fist inserted (fish hooking) into mouth
    • No multiple penetration
    • No people depicted as being in pain
    • No pro-lapse
    • No rape
    • No scat
    • No slapping anywhere on the body
    • No sleeping, passed-out, chloroform, incapacitated persons
    • No spitting on a person
    • No trampling
    • No urination
TO BE CLEAR: This ONLY pertains to people who want their work to be featured in our ad campaign. We found out the hard way in our last campaign that ad sites can be very selective with what they allow, so our ad didn't make it out to as many sites as it could have. If you don't care about this or don't want to participate, this thread and all its contents are entirely irrelevant to you.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE:

    • I will need your explicit permission in this thread to use your work as well as for you to explain, link, or upload the content you consent to being used in the ad campaign. (For example, if you only consent to your most recent 2 images being used because you like them the best, please make sure you note that and post those two images. If you consent to any of your work being used, please state that.)
    • As the site administrator and the person organizing and funding the ad campaign, I (@Punkae) have final say on everything used in the campaign. All proposals made in this thread will be manually approved/denied by me, and the final pieces used will be at my discretion to fit within the rules and guidelines of the advertising agency, as well as for stylistic purposes of making the ad look the best it can.
    • Please make sure you read the full list of items that are prohibited and that you keep that in mind when proposing your work for inclusion.
    • You understand that when you consent to your work being used in this advertisement that you fully agree to your work being cropped and used to create a collective GIF image that will be displayed on other sites, as per our advertising agency's system.

That being said, our banner will obviously need to be pretty tame, though it can certainly include adult content. I know that as a varied-genre artist myself, this means quite a lot of my content would not be allowed in this advertisement, so I understand the frustrations of any of you who do selective genre work that may be excluded. If you would still like to participate, you are welcome to make something new within the time frame that I am gathering resources to create the advertisement.

    This was our previous advertisement:

Changes to this format we will need this time around:

    • Better adherence to the rules for inclusion on various sites
    • More unique pieces
    • (?) A credits list of artists at the end of the GIF cycle (we will vote on this as a community)
    • Possible exclusion of heart in our logo, to avoid any issue with other site logos
    • Updated tagline ("Featuring the artistic, erotic, interesting, and more!")

There is no set date for when I will stop taking proposed pieces as of this time. I will set a date once I get some feedback on the ad campaign itself and see what the level of participation interest is. I look forward to hearing some discussion on this and starting to sort out which artists would be interested in participating!

I'm okay with anything I've posted here being used for this purpose. For IP purposes, I control rights on all the images here; there's nothing currently posted here with any specific restrictions from collaborators, either.

You may use the images I've posted in my albums here (and including images posted by me in other albums) for your above mentioned ad-campaign.

In regards to your credit questions, imho, don't put names in the ad. Who reads the footprint on an ad?
Since there's a forum here, how about you make a topic on the forum instead and simply put the list in there. So for anyone who's actually come here from the ad and wants to know what a specific frame in it shows can find the answer then.

That's no problem for me, so please use anything you want! ;) As novax said, I don't think putting artist names in an ad would be beneficial; such ads need to be very visually immediate I believe.

Edit: I just realized that some of the people I made commissions for might not like seeing their characters used in such a way. I cannot give permission in their place, so I recommend using pictures containing my own OCs, or any character that is not owned by someone else than me.

No trouble at all! If you just list the names of OCs that I can use, I'll filter through your gallery looking for those ones. ^_^

And I agree with the "visually immediate" statement. I personally think that it would look better to not have names on the ad, but I realize that some people's participation may be conditional on such things, so I was trying to get a feel for how people line up on that. I think @novax 's suggestion of a credit thread is a great idea. It would also be a great place to discuss all the different pieces that went into the ad campaign, celebrating those artists, etc. So it could be positive in more than one way. :meow:

@minus269 brought up a good concern - of course, all of your copyrights/creative rights will be completely respected. The permission offered here by artists is specifically to use the work in the ad campaign listed and for no other purpose than to advertise Erolair as a whole. I would like it if we offered this advert to everyone here to post to their blogs or anything if they want to help advertise, but I suppose that should be discussed as well. Our last ad campaign GIF made it around the hands of several of us, who used it on our various pages to promote Erolair. Anyone have specific opinions for/against this?

In theory, you can use anything I've posted, either here or at dA. In reality, I would like to be asked about particular images when you choose them, simply because there are a couple of models or other artists that I used for reference that may not want their likeness shared this way. If you like any of my images for this, a quick note of "Is this one ok?" would be great, so that if I used a reference, I can double check the agreements with any model/artist before posting.
Also, if you like an image that has my dA signature on it, let me know, and I can change it to a generic or Erolair specific signature for you.
I think this is a great idea, btw.

Feel free to use any of my work for this as is suitable, and I'm happy to make work specifically for the ad if we discuss something like that to work it out.

Regarding the credits, I always like having a credit. Not just because I personally want to always be credited, but as a viewer, when I see an ad that contains art I like, I click on it typically to find that specific bit, and am just never able to, get annoyed and wind up losing patience for the site as a whole. Nowhere really does that, and I think EroLair has a chance to set itself apart a bit by allowing people to find the art that drew their attention to the site, then be in a good mood at the site to want to explore further.
I reckon even just having a thin banner at the bottom underneath the images with the @Username done inoffensively and unobtrusively would achieve this without actually affecting the visual impact of the art or advertisement~

I would just like to say I am delighted with all the interest so far! Thank you to all of you who have given absolutely excellent feedback that is useful to me in making the best ad for us possible. I think @PixelJail had an awesome suggestion for including names without immediately detracting too much from the imagery of the banner by using a strip at the bottom to list the ones currently displaying (would change as the images flash or be a scrolling list, however I can manage to get it to work). I can play around with formatting to see how it looks to determine if it's viable. It may be more difficult with longer usernames, but that's the only possible problem I can foresee with this.

To everyone who has replied to this so far/anyone who sees this in the future and is interested:

    • After a few more days (up to maybe a week from now), I will begin making a list of proposed and needed items (specific pieces from the artists who have consented here will be put up for their review, as well as a suggestion list of what type of items I may still be seeking. Ex. We currently have a lot of rendering artists offering their work, so I may make a note that we are seeking some additional drawn/painted artists to go along with our awesome rendered work.)
    • The items may be chosen to fit some loose aesthetic styling when I am creating the advertisement (It needs to look good, so I may be selective in order to make it work)
    • Depending on the type of work and the number of people involved, not everyone will be able to have their work included (Ex. If I need to limit the number of a specific type of art, so I can fit in a balance of other types, this may mean some people will not be able to have their work included)
    • Please do not harass me if for some reason I cannot include your work. Asking questions is fine, by all means, but once I've explained, please do not berate me about it. I'm doing the best I can with this project to make it work for us, and there will be other Ad campaigns in the future. I promise I will be fair and kind in choosing work and will do my best to include everyone who wants to be involved, where possible. :)
    • At this time, no type of user has priority over another in having their work included in this ad campaign. (A normal member has the same chance, based upon their own work's merit, what I think will fit best in the ad, and the type/amount of content I am seeking as compared to any of our paid or otherwise earned ranks, including but not limited to: beta tester, premium, founder, partner, and any and all site staff. I would ONLY consider changing this on the current campaign with community majority vote. Otherwise, I think everyone should have a fair go at it.)
    • If we are severely lacking in a type of content, an artist's work may be featured more than once (Ex. If we only get consent from 4 painters and I need to fill 10 painted piece slots, I may need to use their work more than once if I am unable to get approvals from more painters. HOWEVER, I will include at most 2 pieces from the same creator to try to keep this fair.)

Gonna tag everyone, so this bit can get some eyes on it. This shouldn't really affect people's submissions, but I would like everyone to be aware of this information. :meowlove:

As long as I have access to something that fits within the ad campaign guidelines (in the original post, it's a long list), I see no problem with including one of your pieces. :meow:

We will have a significant number of slots with 3-4 images per "set", and depending on the image file size and the speed of the GIF, I can probably fit quite a lot of pieces. For example, the original had 19 or 20 images in it, and that in of itself has room for improvement. I'm expecting to be able to include 25-30 images as a tentative guess, depending on how I structure the animation. So that leaves room for renders, photography, drawn, painted, and misc. work. I may ALSO do a text flash under or in place of our logo that advertises that we are writer-friendly and are open to other forms of media (animations, videos, etc).

So don't fret! Your work will probably be included. Unfortunately, I just need some really vanilla stuff, so it can be included without limiting where our ad can show. ^~^

You can use whatever I post here to benefit the site. If you see any of my stuff on other site and would like to use, let me know and I will post here
Now I just wonder if vanilla will attract the right public

Regarding the add and artist name, why not the first page that the add direct has each image used on the add with artist name and link to his gallery?

Vanilla is basically what we're allowed to post if we want to advertise on big name sites, but I completely understand your thoughts on it. Fortunately, a lot of the actual traffic on those sites will be happy with our style of content.

That's a pretty good idea! I could build a "featured in our ad" page with the pieces used on it as well as their creator info. My only worry is that it would distract from the "first view" of our website (first page people are intended to land on), but even that, honestly, not sure it's too much of a problem. I think you may be onto something there! That's a really good suggestion!

what would be the landing page? the main one where you select the type of image ("SFW, "NSFW")? if that is the case, then just bellow it could be the the images featured on the add with links to SFW and NSFW images from that artist
