Before we get too carried away with the re-tagging mentioned in our Two New Main Tags Thread, is everyone who does renders okay with it being called "Digital Render"? I do realize some people may prefer "3D Render", but I opted for one that sounded a bit more broad to include various styles and forms of digital rendering. I know this could cause confusion with some people's reference to painted works as being "renders", but ultimately the difference is not in whether or not a subject is being rendered through a medium, but rather the fact that "Drawing & Painting" works have been created with the motions of drawing and painting in whatever medium is being used, while "Digital Render" works have been created in a modeling or sculpting studio to produce pieces rendered via digital medium only. I have no preference on whether we call it "Digital Render" or "3D Render", but having some quick feedback on this ASAP to make sure we don't waste time or manpower with tag updating would be awesome.

Gonna tag the general groups to bring eyes to this. Please give me opinions if you have them, anyone who has an opinion on it! :)

If you like to write a story with a picture you've made/have permission to post, it's nice to make a Gallery post with said picture that either has a short story as its description (2000 character max) or a link to the library post where you've posted your story. If you want to link to anything in a Gallery post description, be it a thread or any other link you use bbcode, like so:
    Code:
Check out my awesome link [url=http://URLTOYOURTHREAD.com]here[/url].
If you would like to, you are welcome to post any written work in the Gallery to the public folder, "Recent Written Works". You can find it as one of the sliders at the top of the gallery or as an album under the "Public Albums" link in the gallery navigation menu.

Stories too long to fit in a gallery post description go directly in the Libary, which is a part of the forums. You can find the library tab at the top of the site.

To post to the Library, just click on it, scroll down, and choose the "Post New Thread" button.

This will make a new writing/story thread in the "Big Bookshelf" forum under our Library. All recent library posts will show up on the main forum page below the forums themselves. If you have a particularly voluminous body of written work or intend to post a lot and want a Personal library (shown at the top of the Library page as a list of different folders), you can read about them here and apply here.

    I hope that helps! :meowlove:

I don't really care. I don't see much difference as long as render is in the name

I personally don't have a preference. The word "render" says what we need and what a viewer needs. The word "digital" could confuse some who are used to the word applied to "digital art," or hand drawn art made with a computer instead of a pencil, pen, or brush. But that's a maybe.

LOL, I hope that people do go for the Digital Render as I have redone all my photos :) .... if the vote goes the other way I will leave it to people who voted for 3d Renders to redo all my galleries... and I am prolific. :)

    @Shelly Spencer

If it came to that, I promise we'd get you some help adding the extra tag to your content. At this point, thankfully, it's looking like Digital Renders will suffice for our purposes. :meow:

:like:UPDATE:like:: As of this time, we will be continuing with the "Digital Renders" tag as is for the main tag for such pieces. You are welcome to tag any variants you prefer, such as "digitalrenders", "3D Renders", "3DArt", or anything else you can think of, but the tag displayed as "Digital Renders" will remain as-is on the gallery quick links menu, and it will be our official tag for such work. Thank you to everyone who participated and provided your opinions. It has been much appreciated and very useful to get insight into the matter!

Sorry to be late to the party.
I like 3D render myself but I am happy if most people prefer digital render.

Most of us don't actually care that much, except we had started tagging all our work before the poll came out... certainly that was my situation.

I don't know what "digital render" means. Is that supposed to include non-manually [but still rendered somehow] art that does not use a 3d program?

I was just thinking the usual programs like DAZ and Poser but also sculpting programs like Zbrush, if that makes sense? The tag pertains to things made in modeling programs, though some of the programs work a bit differently than others.
